Fongrive Haut is situated on the outskirts of the hamlet of Thenac in the southwest Dordogne region of France in the Department of the Aquitaine.

The capital town of the Aquitaine is Bordeaux around 60 miles to the west. The towns of Bergerac, Eymet, Duras and St Foy La Grande are all close by.

The nearest large village is Sigoules about 4 kms distant. The village has a bakery, supermarket, butcher, chemist, hairdressers, post office and doctors surgery.

Travel
Fongrive Haut is approximately 350 miles from St Malo, 450 miles from Le Havre or 550 miles from Calais.

By Car
Use the Autoroute through France to Libourne (north east of Bordeaux) travel east to St Foy La Grande and then on to the minor roads to Thenac.

Alternatively, use the autoroute through France to Limoges, route nationale to Perigueux and Bergerac then on to minor roads to Thenac.

The journey can be completed in one day but an overnight stop is also enjoyable. We recommend the Logis de France for some well placed reasonable small hotels to stay in.

By Train
Trains run from UK to Bordeaux with a change in Lille (preferred) or Paris (a long metro transfer)

The journey time from London is approximately eight hours by Eurostar and TGV.

Car hire is available at Bordeaux station and the journey to the house takes just over an hour.

By Air
Daily flights by low cost airlines are available direct to Bergerac (Flybe or Ryanair), Bordeaux (BA, Flybe or Easyjet) or Toulouse (Flybe, BA or Easyjet) from a number of different UK airports.

Bergerac airport is just 25 minutes from the house whereas Bordeaux airport situated on the west side of the city is about 75 minutes away. The journey from Toulouse Airport is longer at about two and a half hours. Car hire is available at all these airports
